Photography Studios / Resources

As part of this course you will be introduced to the photography studio to gain experience in working within the disciplines of controlled lighting.
The studio is equipped with both flash and continuous lighting in order for you to resolve this assignment. The continuous lighting is not like the old style red head system which tends to get very hot, it is cool lighting which is also daylight balanced for accurate colour rendition. The red head system tended to have very warm yellow lighting.

All students will be given an introduction to the photography studio and guidance of how to safely use each piece of equipment. This also forms an important part of the course and its criteria in evidencing this in your work.

Also you will be shown how to use a 'rostrum camera', which is a fixed base with a camera on a column that can rise up and down. It has lighting on either side to flat light the scene and characters / objects / cut outs that are placed on the baseboard. A photograph is taken then the objects are moved, then another photograph is taken and so on.......
For each second of animation you will need to take 24 photographs ie 24 fps, this should give you an idea of how many photographs you will need to take to produce even a one minute video.
